Prof. Dr. Ann-Katrin Kaufhold


Ann-Katrin Kaufhold holds the Chair of Constitutional and Administrative Law at LMU Munich. She received her PhD from Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg in 2005 with a thesis on “Academic freedom” and obtained her habilitation at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg in 2015 with a book on “Systemic Supervision” of the financial system. From 2006-2009 she worked for the German Federal Ministry of Justice. She was a postdoc at the Research Training Group “Multilevel Constitutionalism: European Experiences and Global Perspectives” at Humboldt-University Berlin from 2010-2012.

Ann-Katrin´s publications in top ranked journals and research handbooks cover European, constitutional and administrative law. Currently, her research focuses on the European sustainable finance regulation and on the institutional architecture of climate protection. Together with Rüdiger Veil, she is the head of the international research group “The Institutional Architecture for a 1.5 °C World” at the LMU Center for Advanced Studies.

Since 2018, Ann-Katrin has been advising the German Federal Ministry of Finance with a special focus on reforms of EU financial markets regulation. She has acted as an expert for the German and the Bavarian Parliament on questions of constitutional and administrative law and as a representative of the German Parliament before the Federal Constitutional Court.
