Dr. Bernarda Cristina Espinoza Castro


Dr. Bernarda Espinoza is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for International Health (CIHLMU) at the University Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. She is the project coordinator of OH-Target (One Health Training and Research Global Network) and leads the development and implementation of One Health learning modules within the Environmental Health Unit. She also collaborates with CIHLMU’s Latin American university partners and contributes to the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH). Dr. Espinoza earned her Ph.D. in Medical Research – International Health from LMU Munich. She also holds an M.Sc. in International Occupational Safety and Health from LMU and a medical degree from the Universidad Católica de Cuenca in Ecuador. Her current work is situated at the intersection of environmental, human, and animal health, with emphasis on how environmental and social determinants influence individual and community well-being across interconnected ecosystems. She is engaged in promoting One Health education through innovative digital and blended learning formats and works closely with academic partners across Latin America to foster global capacity building. Her research interests include One Health, global health, occupational health and safety, mental health, migration, and the development of accessible educational technologies for health professionals in international settings.
